Avoid Roaming Charges From Your Home Carrier
Installing a Simsima eSIM does not automatically stop your usual SIM from connecting abroad. If your home line stays active, your normal carrier can still bill you for roaming. Turn it off deliberately.
The Checklist Before You Land
1Turn off data roaming on your primary line. iPhone: Settings > Cellular > your home plan > Data Roaming > OFF. Android: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > your home plan > Roaming > OFF.
2Turn the primary line off entirely if you do not need calls on it. Same menus, toggle the line off.
3Disable automatic data switching. iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data > turn off Allow Cellular Data Switching. Without this, iOS can silently fall back to your home line when the eSIM signal dips.
4Set the Simsima plan as your data line so nothing else is used by default.
If Your Primary Is a Physical SIM
The simplest guarantee is to remove it before you travel. A SIM that is not in the phone cannot connect to anything.
Calls and Texts
Keeping your home line on for calls means it stays registered on a foreign network, and incoming calls may be charged even if you do not answer. Check your carrier's roaming terms before deciding.
