Getting online in Hawaii
Hawaii is a US state: if your phone plan is American, it already works here and you don't need a travel eSIM. Visiting from Australia, Canada, the UK or New Zealand? Hawaii is covered by our United States eSIM. Install it at home and you're online when you land in Honolulu, then on Maui, the Big Island and Kauai.

Your eSIM connects
As soon as your phone finds a local network. Set the eSIM as your data line and turn on data roaming for it.

Signal notes
- Oahu
- The most consistently covered island. Weak or no signal around Kaʻena Point, on part of the Lanikai Pillbox trail and inside Diamond Head crater. Source, Oct 2026
- Maui
- Service is intermittent on the Hana Highway past Pāʻia, and the back side of Haleakalā toward Kaupō has essentially none, on any of the three big networks. Download offline maps before leaving Pāʻia. Source, Oct 2026
- Big Island
- Long unreliable stretches on Saddle Road between Hilo and Waimea, no connection to count on above the Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station, and little service along Chain of Craters Road. Source, Oct 2026
- Kauai
- Waimea Canyon lookouts have patchy coverage, the Kalalau Trail loses signal past its first stretch, and Polihale has none. Source, Oct 2026
Along the way
The same plan follows you everywhere in the United States, day trips included.
