Check if Your iPhone Supports eSIM
Model-number check, plus the regional models that ship without eSIM.
Check if Your iPhone Supports eSIM
Being a recent iPhone is not enough — some regional variants ship without eSIM hardware.
The Quick Test
If Settings > Cellular offers Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan, your device supports eSIM. That is the most reliable single check.
Models That Do Not Support eSIM
iPhones sold in mainland China do not have eSIM. Hong Kong and Macau models vary by generation. If your model number corresponds to a Chinese-market variant, no eSIM can be installed regardless of the iOS version.
Devices Bought in Turkey
Some iPhones and iPads purchased in Turkey before 23 June 2020 shipped with eSIM disabled. See our separate article on activating those.
Still Unsure
Your device manufacturer or the carrier you bought it from can confirm definitively. Check our compatible devices list before buying, and contact us if your model is not listed.
