Egypt's phone registration rules for tourists

Egypt taxes mobile phones brought in from abroad, and residents register them through the government's Telephony app. Visitors are treated differently: in its statement of January 20, 2026, the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) confirmed that the exemption continues for tourists' phones for a period of 90 days. A short holiday is well inside that window, with or without a travel eSIM.
