Every plan combines an amount of data with a validity period — the window in which that data can be used.
When the Clock Starts
For most plans, validity begins when the eSIM first connects to a supported network in its coverage area — not when you buy it, and not when you install it.
A minority of plans start their validity at installation. If you are unsure which applies to your plan — particularly before a long trip — ask us rather than guess.
Why This Matters
If validity starts at first connection, installing before you travel costs you nothing and saves you hunting for reliable Wi-Fi on arrival. That is the recommended approach.
If validity starts at installation, install only when you land, or you will lose days. When in doubt, installing on arrival is never wrong — it only costs you the need for Wi-Fi at the airport.
Buying in Advance
Buying early never starts the clock, so you can buy weeks ahead of a trip.
When Data Runs Out Before Validity Does
The connection stops but the eSIM stays valid. A top-up restores service on the same profile without reinstalling anything.
