Installing eSIM on iPhone
These steps work for iPhone XS/XR and all newer models. Not sure if your device is compatible? Check our eSIM Supported Devices page.
Before You Begin
Make sure your iPhone is carrier-unlocked
Connect to Wi-Fi (needed to download the eSIM profile)
Have your Smart Link, QR code, or manual codes ready
Method 1: Smart Link (Recommended)
1Open the Smart Link from your confirmation email or Simsima account on your iPhone
2Your iPhone will automatically detect the eSIM and open the installation dialog
3Tap Continue
4Tap Add Cellular Plan
5Label the plan (e.g., "Simsima Travel")
6Done — the eSIM is now installed
Method 2: QR Code
1Open Settings
2Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data)
3Tap Add eSIM (or Add Cellular Plan)
4Select Use QR Code
5Scan the QR code from your Simsima email or account
6Tap Continue when the plan is detected
7Label your plan and tap Done
Method 3: Manual Entry
If the QR code does not work:
1Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM
2Tap Enter Details Manually
3Enter the SM-DP+ address from your confirmation email
4Enter the Activation Code
5Tap Next and follow the prompts
After Installation
Your eSIM is installed but not active yet. When you are ready to use it:
1Go to Settings > Cellular
2Tap on your Simsima plan
3Toggle Turn On This Line
4Enable Data Roaming (required for international eSIMs)
5Under Cellular Data, select your Simsima plan
Dual SIM Setup
Your iPhone can use two lines at once. A typical setup:
Primary SIM — Your home carrier for calls and texts
Simsima eSIM — For mobile data while traveling
Go to Settings > Cellular to configure which line handles calls, messages, and data.
