QR Code Not Working?
Troubleshoot common QR code scanning issues during installation.
QR Code Troubleshooting
If your QR code is not scanning or installing correctly, try these solutions.
Camera Not Focusing on the Code
Clean your camera lens
Hold the phone steady, about 15-20 cm (6-8 inches) from the screen
Make sure the QR code is displayed clearly (no glare, adequate brightness)
Try displaying the QR code on a different screen
"Invalid QR Code" Error
Make sure you are scanning from the eSIM settings, not the regular camera app
On iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code
On Android: Settings > Network > SIMs > Add > Download SIM
Verify the QR code is from Simsima (check your confirmation email)
"Unable to Add Plan" Message
Check your internet connection (Wi-Fi recommended, cellular also works)
Verify your device is carrier-unlocked
Restart your device and try again
Check if you have reached the maximum number of eSIM profiles (usually 8-10 on iPhone, varies on Android)
"Plan Already Exists" or Duplicate Error
The eSIM may already be installed. Check your SIM settings:
iPhone: Settings > Cellular — look for the Simsima plan
Android: Settings > Network > SIMs — look for the Simsima profile
If you accidentally deleted it and need to reinstall, use the manual codes from your account
Alternative: Use Smart Link
If QR scanning keeps failing, try the Smart Link method instead. Open your Simsima confirmation email on the device itself and tap the Smart Link button.
Alternative: Manual Installation
You can always install manually using the codes from your email:
iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Enter Details Manually
Android: Settings > Network > SIMs > Add > Enter code manually
You will need:
SM-DP+ Address — Found in your confirmation email
Activation Code — The long alphanumeric string
