Managing Multiple eSIMs
Tips for managing several eSIM profiles on one device.
Managing Multiple eSIMs
Modern smartphones can store multiple eSIM profiles at once. This is useful if you travel frequently or visit several countries in one trip.
How Many eSIMs Can I Store?
iPhone (XS and newer): Up to 8-10 eSIM profiles, but only one eSIM and one physical SIM (or two eSIMs on iPhone 14+ US models) can be active simultaneously
Android: Varies by device — typically 5-8 profiles, with one active at a time alongside a physical SIM
Setting Up Multiple Profiles
Each time you purchase a Simsima plan for a different destination, you can install it as a separate eSIM profile:
1Purchase the plan for your next destination
2Install it using Smart Link, QR code, or manual codes
3Label it clearly (e.g., "Simsima Japan", "Simsima France")
4Keep it disabled until you need it
Switching Between eSIMs
iPhone:
1Go to Settings > Cellular
2Tap the plan you want to activate
3Toggle Turn On This Line
4Set it as your Cellular Data source
5Disable the previous plan if no longer needed
Android:
1Go to Settings > Network > SIMs
2Enable the profile you want to use
3Disable the one you are done with
4Or use Quick Settings for faster switching
Best Practices
Label everything — Use descriptive names (country + provider) so you know which is which
Disable unused profiles — Keep only the active one enabled to avoid confusion
Delete old eSIMs — After a trip, remove expired eSIM profiles to keep things tidy
Keep your primary SIM — Always keep your home carrier SIM active for calls and texts
Multi-Country Trips
For trips covering multiple countries, consider these approaches:
1Regional plan — One eSIM covers multiple countries (simplest)
2Multiple country plans — Install one eSIM per country, switch as you cross borders
3Trip Packs — Use Trip Packs to buy all your country plans in a single checkout
Regional plans are simpler to manage since you do not need to switch profiles when crossing borders.
